For months I have been trying to decide on whether I go all out with the mini-van and do the whole "soccer mom" practical thing, or if I should get what I really wanted, an SUV. Well we finally decided to go with the SUV. Last week I found a Tahoe that had what we were looking for. Lee went and picked it up on Friday, spent the night in Dallas, and drove home Saturday. When Lee pulled in we all went out to greet him and check out the new ride.
Faith and Peyton were checking out every inch of the car. Faith climbed out of the car so I closed the back door as Peyton was climbing to the front seat. I went to open the front passenger door to get him out of the car when he greeted me at the window with a "click"!!! He locked himself in the car!!!!! I looked at Lee to get the keys when he said, the keys are in the ignition still. The car wasn't on, but we hadn't taken the keys out. Lee felt in his pockets for the spare and realized both sets were in the car!!! It was really hot on Saturday and the car had imprisoned my son! I knew that he would be baking in a matter of minutes. (especially with black leather interior) I ran to get my phone and call 911. (note, I'm suppose taking it easy to be on "bed-rest" because of high BP) not good for my BP! I was on the phone with 911 while Lee went to get a hammer to break out a window. Yes, this is our BRAND NEW CAR!!!!! (or NEW to us at least)....To make matters worse, Peyton had found my container of gum and was stuffing them in his mouth as fast as possible! Great I'm going to have a choking son in a locked car! After a few minutes, Grand-b started coaxing Peyton to press the button to put down the window. At first he was more interested in the gum rather than saving his LIFE, but Finally he did it! (it's because my child is so good at listening and following directions I'm sure!! ;) ha!) He put it down far enough that mom was able to reach her arm in the window and unlock the door! Mom grabbed Peyton and took him straight in to get water and cool him off. Mission aborted!
Needless to say the excitement of the new car was replaced with, which window should we bust out?!?! And if you're wondering, I didn't take my BP for two hours after the event. It was still the highest it's been yet after two hours.
Great way to welcome home the new ride!
One last thing, the 911 operator asked me why my son was locked in the car?!?!?! REALLY?!?! what kind of question is that?!?!
