Lemon bars!

Totally random, but I've been craving lemon bars ever since I had a lemon filled donut last weekend with dad.
I grew up eating lemon filled donuts with my dad at Shipley's. At first I think I just ate them because dad did, and I wanted to be like him. After awhile I got to where I really liked them, and now I eat them because I still like them and they remind of those special times with dad. Love you dad. Thanks for all the sweet memories you made with me at Shipley's! I still love going there. Oh, and it hasn't changed a bit in the last 25 years! Eek!
Well I wasn't planning on writing all that about donuts, but it just came to mind when I started writing.
Back to the lemon bars......
I made lemon bars from scratch yesterday because I was wanting something lemony. I was excited for the kids to try them. Lets just say they weren't quite as impressed as I was hoping for. They left Peyton running for the nearest trash can and grasping for a glass of water. Faith had about the same dramatic reaction. Guess lemon isn't their "thing". Then Lee came into the kitchen in which I promptly offered him a lemon bar and he politely turned it down, saying," nah, I don't really like lemon stuff".
So there I was left with a 9x13 pan of lemon bars all to myself. ;) After non-stop nibbling on them for the rest of the evening, I decided that I should share them with the neighbors, so that's just what I did. Thanks neighbors for saving me a few calories. Ha!

Peyton's first dentist visit

Last week Peyton had his first dentist apt. last week. He started off really well and relaxed. The hygienist was able to clean his teeth as he watched the movie Cars. A little boy came in pretty worked up and crying so it stirred Peyton up a bit and he wasn't as cooperative the rest of the visit, but I'll take what I can get. I got one picture when he was watching the movie waiting on the dentist.

Moms birthday

Happy birthday Mom! Saturday we celebrated mom's birthday. We started out the day with doughnuts at Rick's! Is there any other way to start out a birthday but with some sugar?!?!








After lunch we ate cake and mom opened her present.
Words can't describe how blessed I am to have a mother that loves and cares for me as much as mine does. She is the most giving person I know. The older I get, the more i realize how much mom sacrificed for me over the years, and still Does! She has taught me so many things about being a mom. I love you mom and am proud to be your daughter.

Heels and Ties

Lee and I were invited by some of our good friends the Marshall's to go to the ACH Color Gala event on Saturday night. Mom came up to watch the kids for us. It was her birthday too, so we got to celebrate that as well. Each year the event is color themed. This year the color was tangerine! I had fun shopping an orange dress. Luckily I found one the was cheaper than what my shoes cost! Ha!
We had a great time at the event. Dinner was great as we're the "color-tinies" the martini signature drink. ;)

















We had hopes of bidding on a four wheeler at the live auction, but the starting bid was as high as our max bid. Darn.....

Face time

Yesterday Chanie Kate and Ian face timed! It was fun to see the two of them interact with each other. Chanie Kate would coo at Ian while Ian squealed and gave her the limp wrist wave. Ha! It's so fun to have cousins the same age. Wish they lived closer. :(

First Day of Pre-school

Today Faith and Peyton headed off the pre-school. They are going to a new school this year. They were both really excited to get out the door this morning. I CAN NOT believe that this time next year I will be sending Faith off to Kindergarten. How can this be possible?!?!

For all those out there that swear their kiddos will NEVER have cartoon “themed” clothing, shoes, backpack, etc… don’t hold your breath. I said the same thing, but when a little girl has her mind and heart set on a pink and purple sparkle Minnie backpack, what’s a momma to do…….
   
Then there is Peyton. He is the cutest darn thing I have ever seen. That puppy backpack just makes me wanna swipe that boy up and never let him go. He was so precious this morning. When Peyton got to his classroom he headed straight over to the “diggers” and trucks.
They both had a great time at school and ready to go back on Thursday.
I am looking forward to spending some good individual time with Ian this fall, and doing fun things with him such as going to the library for story time and taking strolls, just the two of us.

Stacked three deep

Today I was on the phone and went into the boy's room because I heard toys being thrown off the shelves to find these two monkeys pretending they had bunk beds!!!


Ian was wanting to participate so badly! I went to get my good camera to take a picture and look what I found.


Who needs bedrooms when you can sleep three comfortably in the closet?!?!
