Ian’s Birthday

 

Ships Ahoy!

Ian celebrated his FIRST birthday on June 19th. June birthdays are so nice as far as the weather goes. We just invited the neighbors on the street to come have some cake and ice cream after dinner. It was nice not to have to worry with the house or do a lot of prep work. We were able to celebrate this little guys birth on his actual birthday.

He had a great time with his cake!! He was a little hesitant at first, but when he got the hang of it, there was no holding back!! We are so blessed to have this little guy in our lives. He brings so much joy to our family. We look forward to watching Ian grow up over the years. 

I love to design invitation and announcements. It allows me to dig into my “design skills”.  I really didn’t need an invite since it was just our neighbors who I practically see everyday, but, it was fun to design anyway.

Rick’s Bakery decorated the cakes. I think they turned out really precious!

  I scrubbed the high chair before the party and had it perfectly clean!! After you see the pictures below, you will agree I should have just waited until after the party!

Getting a family picture is a rare occasion around here. EVERYONE is actually looking in this one!

My sweet mom came up for the event. She was a huge help as always. She had the job of giving Ian a bath after eating cake!

Another paci bites the dust

We decided it was time for Peyton to give up his paci, about three weeks ago. It's been quite the "event"! He is such a strong willed little pistol that he has fought it all the way. Poor guy was soooo attached to it. I felt bad for him, but decided that this summer we had to do two things:
1. Take the paci away
2. Potty train.

#2 will happen soon!

When we took it away from Faith her naps got much shorter. The same thing is happening with Peyton. Some days he only naps an hr. where he used to sleep 3+ hrs. REMIND me of this when I try to take Ian's paci away. He may be starting kindergarten before I do. Ha!

We went to the store and Peyton picked out this remote controlled bulldozer for giving up his paci's. He is VERY proud of it!!! I love this guy! His determination will take him far one day!!! ;)

11 months

   Happy 11 month to my little man! It’s hard to believe that I don’t have an infant in my house anymore. Frankly, I am kinda sad that Ian will be turning ONE in a few weeks. I have never felt this way in the past with the others. I think it is  partly due to the fact that I was fairly certain there would be more one yr old birthdays to come.  This time I’m not so sure. We are feeling like this is our last child unless God surprises us as he has in the past! ha!

This little guy is a ray of sunshine every day. I love him so much. His cute little personality is coming out more and more every week. He has started to wave bye-bye and hi to greet people. He loves to stand up in his crib in the morning, hold on to the rail, and babble and holler “mommmmmma” until I come in there to rescue him. He usually gets so excited that he ends up falling down because he is bouncing so hard when he sees me!

He has started to interact with Faith and Peyton much more and try to join in their play. He loves the play kitchen. Maybe he will want to help me with cooking one day. ha.

He still is the model child of sleeping, and takes pretty good naps as well.

Today I caught him standing without holding on to anything. I cheered and he ended up falling because I think I startled him. oops!

His favorite things to do this month are:

1. Get into the dog food and turn over the water bowl.

2. Get into every cabinet that doesn’t have a child lock on it.

3. Open the doors in the side table and pull my china out

4. Crawl into the pantry and pull everything off the shelves, including a bag of opened flour. (that was quite messy)

Growing up

Today I took the kids to CFA. where else would we go?!?! Ha!
As of last week Ian has decided that he is finished with baby food and moving onto the good stuff! He loves CFA nuggets! I'm fairly certain that they have crack in them. Kids can't get enough!!! After Faith and Peyton finished their lunches and rushed to the play area, I decided to see what Ian would do if I held Faith's juice box up to his lips. She hadn't hardly touched it so I thought I'd try it out. He grabbed that thing and started sucking it down like he had been doing it for years!! It was so funny. Every time I took it away from him he would protest for more. He sucked the whole thing dry!
I'm sure people were thinking I needed to get "out" more because I was dying laughing while snapping pictures of the action. So now that I type this maybe I DO need to get "out" more, but it the small things these days. Ha! Side note* it took Faith and Peyton much longer and a lot of practice to figure out the straw thing!

Sweet moments

The other week I happen to have my camera with me in the backyard when Ian and Lee were watching the older kids on the trampoline. I captured these sweet moments between Lee and Ian. I am so blessed to have a husband who loves his children beyond what I could imagine. The kids will never know how blessed they are to have a daddy that loves them so. God is good.

10 months

So I am a little delinquent in writing Ian’s 10 month post. It seems that life has gotten a bit crazier than it was just a few months ago. Ian started army crawling in April and has not slowed down a bit. He wants to explore everything! He has gotten two bottom teeth in and sporting them quite cutely! He has says momma and dadda really well. Here are a few shots from the month.
